When we're hungry... dreams will keep us alive?
In one of her blog entries, 宝茹 mentioned lucid dreaming. A lucid dream is a dream in which you're aware that you're dreaming. It's something that I've desperately wanted to experience for a long time now.
Some people use lucid dreaming as a tool for overcoming nightmares. Others see it as a way to explore fantasies. I'm interested in neither. For me, it's really a matter of life and death. Let me explain....
Earlier today, I was having lunch in a nice Japanese restaurant. The buffet table was loaded with all kinds of sushi. Yay! I love sushi. I was going back and forth, piling food on my plate and quickly wolfing them down. Fun! But after five rounds or so, I realized that I was still hungry. What the hell? So I kept eating, but all the nice-looking food somehow felt empty to me.
Finally, I woke up. What a horrible dream! It was 2 PM, and I had missed both breakfast and lunch! Crap. I did have my alarm clocks (yes, two of them) set to 11 AM. Unfortunately, I have the wonderful ability to shut off alarms without waking up. Yeah, I know. Worstest superhero power ever.
And things seem to be getting worse. For the last few weeks, I've been regularly having these realistic dreams about all sorts of food, causing me to miss quite a few meals. I think it's a dirty trick that my lazy subconscious mind is using to keep me asleep for as long as possible. One of these days, I would probably starve to death in my sleep. And that would be so sad, right?
That's why I need to learn lucid dreaming quick. It's important for me to know if the food I'm eating is real or imaginary, because dream food doesn't have much nutritional value you know. Like I said, it's a matter of life and death.

Whoa. Let's just hope your
Whoa. Let's just hope your dreams become reality. Gazillion sushi!
Yay!
But I hope that not all my dreams become reality. I don't want to have to deal with homicidal giant elephants :-D
You never had lucid dreams before?
I have. But it's more like I know I'm awake. Or something like that. I guess that qualifies.
I had become aware
of being in a dream state exactly twice. And I woke up almost immediately both times.
I guess I'm just very gullible when I'm dreaming :-|
I can't remember my dreams nowadays
I think I'd prefer my Neozep-induced dreams.
But yeah. You should be troubled by you-eating dreams. Your subconscious has a weird sense of humor, you know. I don't think it will allow you to die of starvation, though - you still have loads of things to do ha ha ha! Maybe what it is trying to say is for you to slow down on eating.
But on second thought, there's a New York Times report that states that overweight people have lower death rate.

Overweight people have lower death rate?
Crap. So I have to eat more. Stop making me miss meals, damn it!
Ah
Well, tell your subconscious that.
Only now that I got the title. You are really old ha ha ha.
www.AWBHoldings.com
By saying that you got it,
you're showing your age too, old man :-P
Yah that's true
Ha ha. I don't have any qualms about my age. I'm 29, and that is relatively old as compared to other bloggers. =P
www.AWBHoldings.com
Yes
Very old :-P
Ah-ha!
You were serious about lucid dreaming, weren't you?
Some people sleep when they are hungry, you know~~ :P
I don't think you will die on your sleep due to hunger. Hehehe, why not ask people in your place to wake you up (instead of using your alarm clock). Like beat you up or something~~ hehe
Yeah, I guess
starvation isn't a problem. However, It would still be nice to be able to wake up whenever I want.
I need Clocky. Someone please buy me one?
i dont know if it's the same thing
is lucid dreaming the same as when you're mind is awake but your body is asleep so you cant move your body?
That's sleep paralysis I think
Lucid dreaming is simply being aware of the fact that you're dreaming.
I have encountered some of these lucid dreams
It's actually quite fun when you realise you're sleeping, especially if you manage to take over the control of the dream flow and what actually happens there :-)
I have never ever dreamed of large quantities of food yet though. I had a dream I was my classmate (girl, quite hot) though. Shows the difference of my and Joyfulchicken's interests, huh...

Yes, it does sound like fun
But I already have an overactive imagination in my waking life, so I'm more interested in the practical aspect of lucid dreaming. I want to be able to say, "Hey, this food ain't real. I've got to wake up now."
you know what i would use lucid dreams for?
sexy time.
Sexy time
with the woman of your dreams? Hahaha.
OK, that's not even funny. Yay for corniness.
You dreamt that you were a hot girl?
19% now.
He dreamt that he was a hot girl
Not just any girl, but a hot girl. Shouldn't that be 99%?
Whoa :-D
Harsh.
This is all going so wrong...
Why don't y'all send me ten thousand bucks, I change my sex and we end all this? :-/

I can't wait to see
what those two have to say about this :-P
Why don't
you send me ten thousand bucks and I'll change your sex for you? Heh heh heh...*sharpens knife*
I think for ten thousand bucks...
I will gladly do it myself instead of letting you do it :-P

You too are sick!
If it were me, I'd ask for the currency in question first. You might get a shock if you find out its 10000RP (Indonesian currency).
20% now
But we just want you to be a drag queen, not change your sex.
OK, I will reveal my plan
I want to be like Miriam. OK? She's my idol. She's what got me here.
And it will eventually cost me lots even without sex reassignment surgery, which I really don't want to have because it's scary :-|
You may start throwing tomatoes at me if you want.

21% and you're creeping me
Have you tried moving to Indonesia (I think). I remember them having this cult-ish group thing that get their stuff cut off... Without anesthesia, I think . :P
First of all...
...it's anaesthesia. Second of all, I love creeping people out. Third of all, you can update it to the 75% now, I don't care ;-)

Well, I never said that I was good as spelling
Boo Ya
Usually when I dream of food
I never get to the eating part. When I was in grade school, I dreamt of myself sitting in front of the class about to dig in into a bag of really delicious junk food when the school bell rang. It was my alarm clock. Bye bye food.
And you get to eat your sushi and complain about not feeling full. Damn.
When your dreams
start to interfere with your real life, I bet you'd complain too :-P
You need to redefine the meaning of "quickly" in this blog entry
Cause if can wolf food down "quickly" then by definition, a snail moves quickly.
Hey,
I only eat slowly in real life. I can eat quickly in my dreams :-P
And you know that because...?
Your sense of time in the dream world is contorted?
Hmm, maybe
You know what they say... time flies when you're having fun :-P
Didn't you mean...
"paint dries quickly" or "grass grows quickly"? :-P
_____
My new blog (even I don't know why I need it)
Paint does dry quickly,
but only if you got it on your clothes.
Superpower
Hmmmm, i do believe i have the same super power. The ability to turn off alarms without even waking up.
Supposed we are of the same guild of superhero.
There might just be the ability to call lucid dreams aside from the turn-alarm-off ability, dormant and waiting to be discovered.
=p
Yay!
Now we must decide whether to use our useless powers for good or for evil.
Don't forget to wear gloves if you're using it for evil
I bet they can trace the prints to you whether or not you knew you turned off the alarm or not.
Hehehe
But I'd leave DNA evidence anyway if I drool, right?
Another question would be
Are you planning to form a team of sleep-walking-alarm-clock-turn-offers? Something like Fantastic Four or X-Men?
Don't forget too add Narcolepsy Boy into it if you do ;-)
_____
My new blog (even I don't know why I need it)
Heh, Narcolepsy Boy
And the Sleepwalker too, of course.
