Punch-Out!!
Remember the Nintendo Family Computer? It was so much fun, especially when you had to redo a stage thirty times because there's no way to save your game.
One of my favorite Famicom games is Punch-Out!! And since I'm a wannabe casting director, here's my take on what the cast should look like if they ever make a Punch-Out!! movie.
Doc Louis and Little Mac = Stanley from The Office and David Archuleta

You may think that Archuleta is too girly to be believable as a boxing star, but a boxing movie with homesexual undertones could mean critical acclaim.
Glass Joe = Owen Wilson

Same nose.
Von Kaiser = Borat

Same mustache.
Piston Honda = Bolo Yeung

I’m sure you saw this one coming. Guess what? Bolo is 70 years old right now. No kidding.
Don Flamenco = Manu Ginobili

He looks like Adam Sandler too, but getting Manu would be a lot cheaper.
King Hippo = a white gorilla

We've got to have an animal in the cast. Kids like movies with animals.
Great Tiger = Apu and Hobbes

I patted myself on the back with this one.
Soda Popinski = Stone Cold

Although I think Stone Cold usually drinks something stronger than soda pop.
Bald Bull = Charles Barkley

Because they're both bald.
Mr. Sandman = Cedric the Entertainer

I think Cedric pulls off the fighting pose well enough.
Mr. Macho Man = some actor named Sam Elliot

Underneath that grizzled and wrinkled exterior is a grizzled and wrinkled body.
Mike Tyson = 50 Cent

Coincidentally, Mike Tyson's bank account has about 50 cents left in it.

Mr. Macho Man
also looks like a 70-year-old Steven Seagal.
Why do some old men
think that they can look young by wearing a ponytail? It's just creepy.
Mr Sandman
Sure looked a lot like Max Alvardo to me. Btw, I think you got Glass Joe spot on!
I refrain from using deceased people in my blogs,
unlikely joyful chicken who wanted me to write a funny blog about a pro wrestler who just passed away.
Hobbes can beat up anyone in
Hobbes can beat up anyone in Punch-Out. With a water balloon.
Hmm
A imaginary water balloon?
It seems that
you're a hobbes fan
I know this game!
Haaa. I know his game. I've played this one during the Famicom heydays. Great casting, really made me laugh out loud.
Those were the happy days.
The famicom was fun. The games were simple, unlike games nowadays with their complicated manuals.
cool
i think your castings are brilliant. love archuleta as a boxer. very genius.
Oooh... genius.
Thanks. Hear that joyful chicken? Hehe =)
The Apu & Hobbes choice was
The Apu & Hobbes choice was a stroke of genius. XD
Hi Lizz
There's that g-word again. Thanks.
A real genius
should be able to blog more often :-P
Maybe i'm just
gifted. Hey, that's another g-word.
yes, i agree.
arsenal is a gifted child. but i question the 'genius' tag. i mean a person who is genius should have at least the following qualities and achievements:
1. should be able to figure out how to make out with beautiful chicks and success rate is in the nineties.
when was the last time you make out with a gorgeous chick on the basis of mere attraction and not monetary consideration?
while your digging into your memory realm for the answer let me prepare you to the second condition.
2. how much did you make for all your wasted effort assembling this particular presentation? what? not even a donation?
ok ,i'll give you this last condition and this is your last chance to be a 'genius'.
3. have you played this punch-out game and won ?
if yes is your answer, then congratulation. your one of the few member of an elite group of 'puch out' hall of famers.
however,if your answer is no then you need be praise even more for not wasting your life away playing these useless video games however fun they may be. and who wants to be group with a bunch of nerdy people anyway? no sex life.
being a genius you ask? not a chance man.
fyi, i played this game and i beat the shit out of mike tyson. yah. i am the champion.
2.
Heh
As a rule, you shouldn't make out with "monetary consideration" chicks (a.k.a. hookers) :-P Doing so would be very un-genius unless you have a mouth condom.
strawberry or orange?
instead of using propalactic devices , fresh fruits will do.heh.
and whats wrong with monetary considerate chicks? where do they turn to whenever they are in need for say payment of tuition fees? they seek out 'papas' i mean GENIUS(es).
I have nothing against them
I just don't think that they're safe to kiss, that's all :-P
why didn't you say so in the first place..
if kiss is what you want. here, wear this elastic diaphragm over your head. the rubber is elastic enough so you can stick out your tongue. dont forget to take a deep breath before wearing and you can choose betwwen strawberry and orange flavor.be safe and have fun.
Yay
Flavored mouth condoms!
cool. i love Hobbes....
cool. i love Hobbes....
Hmm, everybody loves Hobbes
Maybe I should post a Calvin and Hobbes strip and call it a blog entry.
Hobbes is great, but
I find Calvin a bit obnoxious. =)
I don't remember this game
I don't remember this game but this blog post made me LMAO. I love the Apu and Hobbes part! haha!
I see that
there are a lot of calvin and hobbes fans here.
very cool!
hahaha that was very interesting! i am actually not so good of thinking of look alike personalities, and your just great! hahaha and i like the white gorilla! yeye monkey!:-)
The white gorilla
was with the help of joyful chicken. He seems to really like animals.
I like animals
They're delicious.
Your original choice, King Ralph, was a bit too obscure for me :-P
King Ralph?
I thought you never choose dead people?
King Ralph is dead?
Noooooo....
Ok, made a mistake
I thought John Goodman was dead, apparently it was Chris Farley who kicked the bucket. My bad!
brilliant choice
of photos. nice! :)
If only
he would post more often....
thanks,
although i still find it a wee bit difficult in coming up with blogs.
Apu and Hobbes, that was
Apu and Hobbes, that was clever indeed. :)
Yet another Hobbes fan?
Or are you an Apu fan?
Apu was
the first Indian guy that popped up in my head.
great research
good job with the casting! i couldnt agree more. but i cant really remember playing that game. i think i was too young then. i can remember playing nba jam and dragon ball z though. :)
NBA Jam!
I miss that game.
I think those games
are during the Sega and Supernes days. Then i'm sure you never played the Atari.
