My theory: in Chinese phonetics, the vowel U is, in some cases, substituted with V. Unfortunately, this rule obviously does not crossover to English. Someone got confused. : \

My college laptop had a malfunctioning "U" key so I had to substitute my Us for Vs whenever I'd post online and was too lazy to keep hitting ctrl+C for it :P

Hmm, maybe whoever printed the soy sauce bottle had a malfunctioning U key too. "Let's just use a V instead. The old Chinese people that eat here wouldn't notice anyway."
