Football for wimps
I have a new second favorite sport.
I tried flag football last Saturday, and I liked it a lot. No no no, it's not a kind of soccer. Are you kidding me? Soccer sucks. Flag football is just like American football but without the painful tackles and the resulting concussions. In short, it's football for wimps.
If you live in Metro Manila, come play with us every Saturday afternoon at the Corinthian Gardens football field. It's free and open to people of all ages and genders. (That's what they say, so I guess theoretically, you can bring your grandma, but... please don't.) We start at 2:30 PM. You don't have to know anything about football. Just come on time and the coach will teach you the basics.
UPDATE: We move to a backup field (a vacant lot near the EDSA gate) whenever the main field is occupied by stupid soccer players. It's probably a good idea to get in touch with me ahead of time so that I can send you last-minute announcements.

P: probably not hehe... anything that requires agility and stamina aint likely a sport i can be good at hehe
JC: doesn't take much stamina
JC: football has a lot of stops, so stamina isn't really important
JC: and if you're the quarterback, you won't have to run much. you'll have to pass well though
P: nope, no quarterback in me... and there's no tackling here either right?
JC no tackling
JC: it's like the old dragon's tail game, hehe
JC: but with two tails
P: yeah... my only reason for exsistence in the dragon's tale game is because i can take the beating that wasnt suppose to be there
P: no way id have any relevance in a game that requires agility and doesnt allow u to physically assault some one hehe
JC: are you good at catching?
P: hmm... can i catch, now that's something iv never tried before
JC: hehe
P: i wish there was a way to tackle people hehe
P: so what are the flags for?
JC: they're substitutes for tackles
JC: grabbing a flag = tackle
P: so all u need to do is get close to a person who has the ball and steal his flag?
JC: yup
JC: but i find deflecting the ball easier
P: i can imagine
I don't know all the rules yet,
but I've heard that some forms of contact are legal :-P

Flag football what now? Lulzzzz. I never got why Americans call football soccer when it's clearly FOOTBALL in English hehehe. Why can't they call American football SHOULDERBALL. Still frustrates me to this date.. even though I say it at times. I'm pro-soccer/football, always been a big fan.
Sadly, I don't get American football, or flag football watchamacallit. I only see it in tv.. which is pretty fun I guess hahaha.
